We don’t really know how Super Mario characters would act in real life, but one half of the the Mario Bros. at Super Nintendo World is giving it his best shot. Tiktok user bellabelli260 posted a video of her partner proposing to her at the park, including Mario and Luigi in the background. You’d think mascot characters would hype a dude up. Unfortunately, Luigi missed the cue.
Super Nintendo World features employees dressed as popular Nintendo mascots like Mario and Luigi at the park. When Mario saw bellabelli260’s partner get down on one knee and bring out the ring, he expressed his support for the couple with excitable gestures and clapping. Meanwhile, Luigi stood on the opposite side with his hands on his hips, not even acknowledging anything was happening.
“Luigi: I do not see it [man standing emoji]” read the top comment on the Tiktok.
Others thought that Luigi didn’t care and that he was clueless. Overall, the replies seemed to believe that he simply didn’t notice what was happening until later when he started clapping with Mario at the end of the clip.
Super Nintendo World has been a pilgrimage for many gamers since it was first revealed during the pandemic. Now that the Hollywood branch is open, more people in the United States have been able to see the magic for themselves. The first Super Nintendo World opened at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka in 2021. It was later followed by the Hollywood branch in February 2023, where bellabelli260 got engaged.
Congrats to the couple!
