On Nintendo eShop, you can buy Unpacking or Unpacking: Deluxe Edition. You might think these are just two editions of the same relaxing game, but that is not the case. In fact, a developer at Unpacking studio Witch Beam is calling out the latter title as one of many “egregious scams” on the Switch’s online storefront.
Spotted by Eurogamer, Unpacking creative director Wren Brier took to BlueSky to challenge Nintendo to remove “cheap fakes” from the Switch’s eShop. “It’s been over two weeks and these are still on the eShop,” Brier wrote. “Nintendo hasn’t responded to any of our reports of these egregious scams which are using our trademarked game name and purposely tricking Nintendo customers into buying cheap fakes.”

Brier originally posted about the Unpacking clones on November 28 on BlueSky. GameSpot typed “unpacking” into the search bar on Nintendo’s website. The game results did pull up the original Unpacking first, but right next to it is Unpacking: Deluxe Edition. While the thumbnail image for the two titles is different, Unpacking: Deluxe Edition is cheaper and could confuse people.
The publisher behind Unpacking: Deluxe Edition is CGI Lab. Other games available on the Switch eShop from the company include Cowboys vs Zombies: Deluxe Edition, Anime Puzzle Quest: Deluxe Edition, and Car Parking: Premium Edition.

The original Ultimate C Switch Controller was has been our favorite $30 or less option since it launched. If you bought a Nintendo Switch as a gift and are still in need of some extra controllers for multiplayer, 8BitDo’s Ultimate 2C Bluetooth Controller should be on your radar.
The 8BitDo Ultimate 2C’s Hall Effect analog sticks are designed to prevent drift, while its metal rings aim to prevent wear. Hall Effect sticks typically feel smoother than regular analog sticks, too.
Unlike 8BitDo’s flagship Ultimate Bluetooth Controller, the 2C, and C series in general, doesn’t have back buttons. Instead, it comes with an extra pair of remappable shoulder bumpers. These inputs can be remapped on the fly, which is nice, but you don’t get the other customization features found in the standard Ultimate, as it’s not compatible with 8BitDo’s mobile and desktop apps.
The Ultimate 2C does have built-in rumble, 6-axis motion controls, and a turbo button. It also has a “wake-on-shake” feature, so you can turn it back on with a slight jostle. Amazon’s listing doesn’t mention battery life, but the Ultimate C offered 16 hours of play between charges.
While we haven’t tested the Ultimate 2C Bluetooth model yet, we have used the Ultimate C Bluetooth and the Ultimate 2C 2.4GHz Wireless. 8BitDo’s C series of controllers offer great ergonomics, feel, and overall performance; we’d be surprised if the Ultimate 2C Bluetooth didn’t follow that trend.

The Ultimate 2C is 8BitDo’s budget Switch controller, but the flagship Ultimate Bluetooth Controller is by no means expensive. Our favorite third-party Switch controller–and our top overall PC controller–the 8BitDo Ultimate Bluetooth Controller has numerous upgrades. Most notably, it has two remappable back triggers and support for 8BitDo’s Ultimate Software, which can be used to create three custom profiles, remap inputs, and make adjustments to analog and trigger sensitivity as well as rumble intensity.
The 8BitDo Ultimate also comes with a matching charging dock that houses a 2.4GHz USB adapter for wireless play on PC and Mac. Battery life is better too, as you can get up to 22 hours of play between charges.
If you want all of those features without Switch compatibility, the 8BitDo Ultimate 2.4GHz retails for $50. It’s available in four colors, but only the white model is on sale for 10% off right now. There is a Genshin Impact-themed edition for $54 (was $60). Speaking of themed 8BitDo controllers, the Black Myth: Wukong edition Ultimate 2C is still available for $35 at Amazon.
You can also save $20 on 8BitDo’s Ultimate 3-Mode Controller, which is officially licensed by Xbox. Unfortunately, it only works with a wired connection on Xbox, but it will work wirelessly on PC via the 2.4GHz adapter and over Bluetooth on Android.
In January, 8BitDo is adding to its retro mechanical keyboard line with a translucent green model licensed by Xbox. The keyboard matches the iconic green variant of the original Xbox console. Often cited as the world’s most valuable media franchises, Pokémon is a household name that’s been a Nintendo staple since the Game Boy. The beloved series is home to hundreds of amazing creatures, with each new generation bringing loads more to discover. Every console released by Nintendo has had dozens of Pokémon games released for it, and the Nintendo Switch is no exception.
As we approach 2025, now is a great time to explore the Pokémon offerings on Switch and catch up before new games (and perhaps a new Nintendo console) are released. Below, we’ve compiled every Pokémon game that has been released on Nintendo Switch, and will keep an eye on any upcoming Pokémon titles that may arise.
How Many Pokémon Games Are There on Nintendo Switch?
In total, 12 Pokémon games have been released for the Nintendo Switch. This includes the mainline games for the 8th and 9th Pokémon generations as well as plenty of spinoffs. For the sake of this list, we’ve counted mainline entries with two versions as a single release. We also don’t include the Pokémon games offered through Nintendo Switch Online, but you can check out that list below.
What Pokemon Game Should You Get in 2024?
If you’re wondering which game is worth picking up on the Switch in 2024, my recommendation is Pokémon Legends: Arceus. It’s not going to give you that OG Pokémon game feeling, but that’s what the older generation games are for. Instead, Legends: Arceus introduces more action and RPG elements to the Pokémon series, offering the freshness of open areas to explore, more control over encounters, and plenty of polish for the handheld.

Pokkén Tournament DX (2017)
Pokkén Tournament was originally released for the Wii U in 2016. A year later, Nintendo and Bandai Namco prepared a deluxe version of the game for Nintendo Switch, adding new characters and updated visuals to take advantage of better hardware. This three-on-three battle system is a blast to play with friends both in person and online.
Pokémon Quest turns all your favorite Pokémon into miniature cube form. This free-to-play Switch game features a fun and simple combat system where you send Pokémon on expeditions. Equip different abilities to your Pokémon to handle all types of encounters.
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! & Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! are remakes of the beloved 1998 Pokémon Yellow. These titles were the first mainline Pokémon games ever to release on a home console, since none made it to the Wii U. Set in the Kanto region, all 151 original Pokémon appear with varying forms from previous mainline installments. With heavy accessibility features, these remakes were a great first step for the series on Nintendo Switch for newcomers and veterans of the series.
Pokémon Sword & Shield marked the first installment in the series to feature aspects of an open world. Dubbed the Wild Areas, these regions allowed for free traversal and battles with wild Pokémon. Gyms also made a return for the first time since X & Y. Additionally, Sword & Shield introduced the eigth generation of Pokémon, which included Dynamax and Gigantamax forms of previous Pokémon.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is a remake of the 2005 titles Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team & Blue Rescue Team. Surprisingly, this is the first Pokémon spinoff remake ever, with development handled by Spike Chunsoft. The gameplay consists of completing jobs in different dungeons and unlocking new Pokémon along the way.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX – Nintendo Switch
The other Pokémon release of 2020 was Pokémon Café ReMix featuring similar gameplay to other puzzle games like Disney Tsum Tsum, which requires you to connect Pokémon together to solve puzzles. In Pokémon Café ReMix, you and Eevee own a café and must serve the Pokémon who come for food or a little drink. This charming service game is free-to-play via the Nintendo eShop.
New Pokémon Snap (2021)
After more than 20 years, the Nintendo Switch is the console that finally received a sequel to Pokémon Snap. Developed by Bandai Namco, you traverse around different biomes and areas with an on-rails camera to capture pictures Pokémon in the wild. You can unlock new courses by taking good pictures in New Pokémon Snap, leaving for a sizeable amount of content to unlock and discover. You never know what you might find during each session!
This free-to-play game marked Pokémon’s first entry into the MOBA genre. You command and control a team of five Pokémon in head-to-head battles against other players online. There’s a solid amount of Pokémon to choose from, so you can adjust your team to best fit your needs. Pokémon Unite went on to be featured in different esports tournaments, with multiple championships held for the game.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl (2021)
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Pokémon Shining Pearl are remakes of Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, which originally released in 2006 for the Nintendo DS. As the fourth generation of Pokémon, Diamond & Pearl feature a wide variety of Pokémon to battle against and discover. The remakes feature a new chibi art style that was created to stay faithful to the original titles while still remaining fresh.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Pokémon Shining Pearl Double Pack – Nintendo Switch
Pokémon Legends: Arceus is often praised as one of the best Pokémon games available on the Switch. This original title takes place far in the past, somewhere in the Hisui region. With a focus on exploration, you can freely walk all around the map to capture Pokémon, explore different environments, and so much more. Pokémon can be spotted wandering around all over the map, which requires you to be strategic if you’re looking to avoid battle.
The latest mainline Pokémon games officially kicked off Generation 9, bringing along an entire new approach to gameplay and world design. In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, an open world awaits with freedom to explore wherever your heart takes you. The DLC pass, titled The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, is now wrapped up, making it a perfect time to check out Scarlet & Violet.
One game and one movie later, the sequel to Detective Pikachu is finally available on Nintendo Switch. Tim’s father is missing, and it’s up to Detective Pikachu to solve the case! This sequel features new puzzles and investigations, where you can investigate scenes and use your notebook to get to the bottom of the mystery. If you’re a fan of both Pokémon and mystery games, this is a great game to consider.

The biggest announcement from the presentation is that a new Pokemon Legends game will be arriving in 2025, further stirring up speculation about the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 next year. That said, this is important to consider for games with DLC, such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. If you do not get a North American version and want the DLC, you will need to purchase that content from the eShop matching your game. So if you get a UK game, you need to download DLC from the UK eShop, which requires making a separate Nintendo account. Not many games in the list above–or Nintendo games in general–have DLC, but this is worth keeping in mind.
Eight Pokemon games are on sale, including three pairs of mainline entries: Scarlet and Violet for $42 each, Sword ($42) and Shield ($40), and Let’s Go, Eevee ($40) and Pikachu ($42). The Let’s Go games are adorable remakes of Pokemon Yellow with streamlined mechanics inspired by Pokemon Go. You can also snag Pokemon Legends: Arceus for $45 ahead of the release of its sequel, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, next year. The remake of the first Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game has received a rare discount, too; Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DXis only $42, and this is a great pick for younger players who aren’t interested in turn-based Pokemon games just yet.
Several other rarely discounted Switch games are up for grabs for great prices. The stellar action-platformer Metroid Dread is $42, Bayonetta 3 is only $30, and the physical edition of the first Bayonetta game is down to $35. The Dragon Quest I-III Collection featuring the first three mainline games is available for $42. This collection only released in Asia, but it can be played in English. To be clear, this collection includes the enhanced versions that released on mobile and PC, not the new HD-2D Remake of Dragon Quest 3.
Bethesda’s recently released Doom Anthology, which comes with six games, a steelbook case, and a five-inch replica of the iconic BFG gun, is discounted to $55 (was $80). Speaking of Bethesda, Skyrim’s for Switch is on sale for $45. This is admittedly quite pricey for Skyrim in 2024, but the Switch port isn’t discounted often.
Super Mario RPG is on sale for only $30 at Best Buy, but this deal is scheduled to end tonight, December 6, at 10 PM PT. It’s actually the third time this week Best Buy has dropped the price of the 2023 Switch remake of Mario’s first role-playing adventure. Earlier this week, Best Buy had it for $38, and then yesterday the price dropped to $33 alongside a handful of other steeply discounted Switch games.
Incredibly faithful to the beloved original, Super Mario RPG is a charming Switch game enhanced with several quality-of-life changes that make it more approachable to newcomers. Mario RPG veterans will appreciate the series of post-game fights that really test your prowess.
Beyond those additions and tweaks, Super Mario RPG on Switch plays very similarly as the iconic original on Super Nintendo. The excellent turn-based combat still feels great today, the characters and writing are heartfelt and humorous, and the world design still has that classic Nintendo charm.
GameSpot’s Super Mario RPG review found the modernized version of the SNES classic to be a delight. “Super Mario RPG is one of the wildest games in Nintendo’s catalog. Loaded with eccentric characters like a Santa-esque big bad, random bouts of dark comedy–Toad cosplayers tickle as a form of torture and a four-eyed dog swallows you whole and comments on the taste–and moment-to-moment gameplay that is as raucous as it is eclectic, Super Mario RPG memorably capped off the SNES lifecycle. Fittingly, the new Switch version is one of the weirdest remasters I’ve ever played. Its surface-level appearance as a modern Mario game is merely a facade. Relentlessly faithful to the original, Super Mario RPG is a bold and largely successful experiment.”
Though Super Mario RPG for Switch is only a year old, Nintendo has released two Mario RPGs since its launch. An enhanced edition of the GameCube classic Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door released in May. Also exceedingly faithful to the original release, the Switch remaster earned a 9/10 in our Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door review.
In November, Nintendo revived the Mario & Luigi RPG series with Mario & Luigi: Brothership, which earned a 6/10 in our review. While we praised the art style and story, performance issues, repetitive combat, and pacing issues make Brothership an uneven, albeit fun, adventure that’s perhaps a bit too long for its own good.
Both of those Mario RPGs as well as Paper Mario: The Origami King are on sale at Amazon and Woot, so you can save on all four Mario role-playing (physical) releases at the moment.
Those are just a small sample of the Super Mario games on sale right now. In 2019, Fatal Fury’s Mai Shiranui was one of the most-requested fighters for Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. She was excluded from the game because “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is for good boys and girls of many different ages,” according to Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai. However, Mai is on the way to Street Fighter 6 early next year, and she’s starring in a new teaser trailer that shows off her fighting style.
Amusingly, Mai calls herself “a good girl” in the video while inviting a novice fighter to her Fatal Fury 2 stage for some fighting tips. And it isn’t long before their training session is interrupted by some rude ninjas who are out to get Mai for some reason. Those shinobi picked the wrong woman to mess with, as she gracefully dispatches them with precision.
Mai was actually a guest character in the zombie survival mobile game Doomsday: Last Survivors earlier this year, but Street Fighter 6 will be her first confrontation with the Capcom characters since SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos in 2003. Mai’s fellow Fatal Fury hero, Terry Bogard, was added to Street Fighter 6 earlier this year.
Terry and Mai will also be reunited in Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves, the first sequel in the series to arrive in the last 25 years. In addition to the standard fighting game matches, City of the Wolves will also feature a solo-player RPG mode when it hits Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on April 25, 2025.
Street Fighter 6 Roster: All Characters Confirmed So Far
A handful of Nintendo exclusives are down to some of their best prices of the year in Walmart’s Black Friday sale, giving you a chance to grab iconic Mario and Zelda games for just $30 each. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is arguably the most enticing offer of the bunch. This was the first game Nintendo charged $70 for, but you can grab it for just $30–meaning you’ll save an impressive $40 with Walmart’s current price cut.
While several other games were also part of the $30 discount earlier in the week, most have sold out. Luckily, a few notable titles remain in stock, including Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario Maker 2, discounting both games from their $60 list price to $30. Super Mario Odyssey is still considered one of the best 3D platformers of all time, and Super Mario Maker 2 is a wonderful choice for anyone who has ever wanted to create their own Mario levels. Nintendo Switch Sports physical edition is also down to $30 (was $50). This package includes the full game and the Joy-Con Leg Stap accessory.
Note that availability for these deals differs between regions, and some locations may only have digital game codes in stock. Either way, we recommend picking up these games while you can. Like all Black Friday deals, these are only available for a limited time and will likely sell out. In fact, many of Walmart’s other Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals are out of stock, so it’s wise to grab these games soon.

Target is one of the most popular retailers for Black Friday, and one thing I’ve learned over the years of finding deals is that it knows how to put on a good sale. This year, Target has come out the gate swinging with outstanding Black Friday deals on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 consoles, the Meta Quest 3S VR headset, and the Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer smart glasses. It’s also a great one-stop shop for holiday gift ideas like a new Apple iPad or a pair of AirPods, Pokemon TCG sets, LEGOs, toys, and more.

Compared to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, the Nintendo Switch console has the best discount for Black Friday. The holiday bundles, which were released back in October, included your choice of the Switch or Switch OLED, a digital download voucher for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and a 12-month Switch Online membership. I thought that this was going to be the official Black Friday deal. Alas, Target (but not Amazon, due to their supposedly shaky relationship) has just knocked another $75 off the price tag. That means you can pick up a Switch bundle for as low as $225.

Super Mario Odyssey deserves to be a staple game in everyone’s Switch library. It’s one of the few Mario games that is a completely Switch original instead of a remake. Despite the fact that it was launched way back in 2017, it’s still one of the best Switch games even today. This year’s Black Friday deals are stacked with good finds. Update: This is the last Pokemeon TCG item left in stock but I’ll re-add any Pokemon TCG sets that come back for Black Fridyay.
Pokémon TCG: Charizard ex Super Premium Collection
Sony released their entire set of Black Friday PlayStation deals last week and most major retailers have followed suit. The best deal is definitely on the consoles themselves: the PS5 Slim Disc Edition has dropped to $424.99 (originally $500) and the PS5 Slim Digital Edition has dropped to $374.99 (originally $450). I would choose the Disc Edition because it’s only $50 more and then I have the option to buy (and later sell or trade) physical disc media. Target doesn’t carry the “Fortnite Cobalt Star” bundle but all that includes is a couple of Fortnite skins and in-game currency. If you want to save some money and go the Digital Edition route, I would suggest getting the NBA 2K25 bundle, which also includes a game.

Star Wars: Outlaws was released only 3 months ago, and it’s already 33% off for Black Friday. Maybe Ubisoft is trying to boost sales after lackluster sales at launch, but that means you get to enjoy a AAA title at a great discount. IGN’s Tristan Ogilvie gave it a 7/10 review, but I’ve beaten the game and I immensely enjoyed it and would give it at least an 8. It definitely has a “Assassin’s Creed game in a Star Wars skin” vibe, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

One of the best Apple Black Friday deals has arrived and it’s better than I predicted. Target has dropped the price of the second-generation Apple AirPods Pro wireless noise-canceling earbuds to $153.99. This discount brings the price down to the same level as the Apple AirPods 4 with noise cancellation. Between the two, the AirPods Pro is still Apple’s best earbuds because it offers better sound quality and better noise cancellation performance.
At $299.99, the Meta Quest 3S was inarguably the best value out there in the world of VR gaming, but apparently that’s not good enough to be considered a Black Friday deal. So, Target has decided to include a nice bonus: Target shoppers get a bonus $75 Target gift card. The Quest 3S also comes bundled with the Batman: Arkham Shadow VR game.
What really sets this deal above all other VR deals (like the PlayStation VR2) is that the Meta Quest 3S can be played completely untethered. That means you can play games like Beat Saber or Pistol Whip without having to own a powerful gaming PC or a PlayStation 5 console. Try to find another standalone VR headset at this price and you’ll come up empty.

There’s a very intriguing – if a bit controversial – deal going on that you might want to check out for yourself. Amazon is offering a 20% discount off the Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer Smart Glasses, with prices starting at $239.20. That’s the same deal you’ll find at other retailers, however Target is throwing in a $90 Target gift card. The Meta Wayfarer glasses are an influencer’s dream, and that’s exactly what they’re designed for: social media. They’re surprisingly slim and lightweight for glasses equipped with an integrated 12MP video camera and speaker. You can use them to take quick snapshots or up to 60 second videos that you can then upload to your social media of choice. You can even livestream 30 second videos.

Here are the best deals I’ve seen so far on small appliances, personal care products like hair dryers and toothbrushes, vacuum cleaners, and other convenient necessities that everyone – gamers included – might find useful. Although air fryers are all the rage these days, I bought my Instant Pot pressure cooker over ten years ago and still use it weekly.

One deal you might have missed is this really awesome MEGA Microsoft Xbox 360 Collector Building Set. It’s normally $150 but there’s a 50% discount for Black Friday that drops it to only $74.99. The MEGA Microsoft Xbox 360 Collector Building Set is a buildable 3:4 scale replica of the Xbox 360 console with a brick count total of 1,342 pieces (5.5 cents per brick). The details in this build are, frankly, incredible, and include interactive elements, lighting effects, and the coolest accessories. This is easily the best TV deal in Target’s ad scan, which is why it’s on their front page. Target will drop the price on this Westinghouse TV from $499.99 to $399.99, making it one of the least expensive 75″ TVs we’ll see for Black Friday. Aside from the absolutely gigantic screen size, a native 4K resolution, and 60Hz refresh rate, this TV also features the Roku smart interface. I personally prefer Roku over Fire TV or Google TV because it’s more intuitive to use.
Need an inexpensive TV that gets the job done? Look no further than this Hisense A6 Xumo TV. This is currently the least expensive 65″ TV deal for Black Friday and has a good chance of staying that way. At this price you’re getting a pretty barebones TV, but it has all the important essentials, like a generous 65″ TV screen size with a native 4K resolution panel, built-in speakers, and an integrated Xumo TV smart interface. If you would rather use a smart interface that’s more familliar to you, you can pick up a Fire TV Stick 4K for $21.99 or a Roku Ultra LT for $34.
You can pick up a copy of Azul for only $20 for Black Friday. Many board games are about mystery or war, but Azul is totally different. Players in Azul compete to design the most beautiful tiled mosaics they can. The best deal right now – a LEGO City Space Science Lab for only $19.99 (originally $35) – would make a great gift for kids. At an average cost of a mere 3.5 cents per brick, this deal is a phenomenal value.
Target has dropped the price of the Asus ROG Ally Z1 gaming handheld PC to only $349.99 after a $150 discount. This is currently the least expensive cost of entry to the world of gaming handheld PCs. The ROG Ally runs off Windows 11. The benefit compared to the Steam Deck, which runs off SteamOS, is that the ROG Ally is compatible with pretty much any Windows-based game client, including Steam, Battle.net, Xbox Games Pass, Epic Games Store, GOG, Ubisoft Connect, and more. That makes it more attractive to gamers who like to play games that aren’t available on Steam.
Who doesn’t love a good ol’ freebie for Black Friday? Target is offering a free pair of fuzzy wuzzy Target Adult Bullseye Slippers for Target Circle 360 members. These slippers normally cost $15, so if you sign up for the membership at the promotional price of $50, you’re already a third of the way towards getting your money’s worth!
You don’t need to be a Target Circle 360 member to get this freebie. Target is offering a single pack of the Air Wick Scented Oil Air Freshener, with warmer included, for free after you clip the $4 off Target Circle coupon. Supposedly it lasts for 60 days, and you can easily top it off with Air Wick refills. I much prefer this over scented candles because it doesn’t leave soot residue everywhere.
