Lego celebrated Mario Day by revealing its latest Nintendo display model for adults: Mario & Standard Kart. The 1,972-piece replica of Mario and his iconic red racing kart releases May 15 and is available to preorder now at the Lego Store for $170. Like several previous Nintendo display models for adults, Mario Kart: Mario & Standard Kart is exclusive to the Lego Store at launch, but the exclusivity window appears to be shorter this time. Amazon was briefly taking preorders for the upcoming set with a launch date of July 1; we’ll update this article if Amazon or other major retailers list the Lego Mario Kart display set.
At nearly 2,000 pieces, the Mario Kart display model is one of the largest Super Mario Lego sets. Compared to the smaller-scale Mario Kart playsets for kids that launched in January, the finished build has a lot more detail. This is the most realistic recreation of the mustachioed character’s modern design–his head and arms are posable–and the kart looks ripped straight from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
The completed model measures in at approximately 12.5 inches long, 7.5 inches wide, and 8.5 inches tall. The set can be displayed flat or at a drifting angle with the included, buildable display stand.
Like other Nintendo display models, Mario & Standard Kart comes with a physical instruction booklet and support for an interactive guide in the Lego Builder app on iOS and Android. With the free app, you can watch each step of the build process in 3D and manipulate the diagram to look at the work-in-progress from any angle you desire.
The new display model will bring the total number of Mario Kart-themed Lego sets to six. As mentioned, the five existing building kits are playsets geared toward kits. Mario’s Standard Kart is one of those five kits, though the $20 build is substantially smaller and less detailed at just 174 pieces.
Mario & Standard Kart comes in a black box, which Lego uses to mark display-oriented builds for adults. It will be the seventh Lego Nintendo display model. The recently revealed Lego Game Boy will likely be the eighth when it releases later this year.
In just over a month, players will have a better idea of what to expect from the Switch 2 when it’s showcased during a Nintendo Direct on April 2. Because Nintendo had to share certain technical specs with the Federal Communication Commission ahead of time, players are now privy to a few additional details about the upcoming console.
Via The Verge, the FCC has posted some of the Switch 2 technical specs online. While most of these reports are very dry with technical jargon, they do indicate that Switch 2 will support near field communication, or NFC, which is how the Amiibo figures were able to connect with Nintendo’s previous console to unlock new in-game content. It’s also been confirmed that the radio-frequency identification (RFID) feature is located in the right Joy-Con, just as it was in the first Switch. While that’s not 100% confirmation that Amiibos will continue to be utilized with the Switch 2, it certainly seems likely that they will.
The FCC filings indicate that Switch 2 will support Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) networks with up to 80MHz of bandwidth. That’s an upgrade from the original Switch’s Wi-Fi 5 capabilities, but not as fast as Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7. These reports also confirm that Switch 2 has two USB-C ports, one at the top and one at the bottom. The system can be charged through either of those ports.
A previously released Japanese patent application revealed that Switch 2’s Joy-Cons will have mouse-like capabilities. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa recently suggested the company must push “beyond video games” to get people to engage with more than just its games and consoles. It’s not entirely clear what that means for Switch 2 yet, but hopefully more answers will be shared soon.
The beloved PS1 RPGs Suikoden I and II have returned in a remastered collection on consoles and PC. The Day One Edition includes a code that unlocks immediate access to the Prosperity Orb and Fortune Orb in-game items, which double the amount of money and experience you earn from battles, respectively. You also get a bonus 57,300 Potch (in-game currency).
The Orb items are acquirable in the game, but they’re rare drops, so having them available immediately is a perk for players who don’t want to spend as much time farming Potch and XP.
You’ll know the freebies are inside the box if you see the Day One Edition emblem on the cover art. Day One Editions sometimes sell out before launch, but Suikoden’s appears to be in stock at all major retailers on release day.

SanDisk has a range of officially licensed microSD cards imprinted with characters and emblems from popular Nintendo franchises. One of the newest additions to that lineup is this 1TB Pokemon-themed model, which appropriately features Snorlax.

The 2TB model is actually $10 less than the best deal we saw during Black Friday and, in my opinion, the best deal to get.

If you’re in the market for a new Switch console, here’s a deal worth consideration. AliExpress is currently offering a Nintendo Switch OLED console for only $223.61 after coupon code: USAFF30 is applied during checkout. This product is also stocked in a US warehouse, so it ships free and arrives within about a week. AliExpress has a 15-day free return policy and guarantees a refund if your order doesn’t arrive within 20 days.
This is a brand new, genuine Nintendo Switch console, but keep in mind that it is imported from either Japan or Hong Kong. What that means is that the warranty it comes with will most not likely be valid in the United States. The packaging and materials (like the manual) might also be written in another language). Functionally, however, Switch consoles are region unlocked so you’ll be able to play them in the US without any problems. You’ll be able to select English as your default language just like any console you buy here. A US power plug adapter is also supplied.
If you can afford the small price premium of the Switch OLED over the non-OLED model, then I think it’s worth the upgrade. The Nintendo Switch OLED features an OLED display that offers better image quality than the original LCD display. That includes deeper blacks, more vibrant colors, and a better color gradient. The text is sharper and easier to read as well. The screen isn’t that much bigger (7″ on the OLED vs 6.2″ on the non-OLED), but it does feel a lot bigger thanks to a thinner bezel. Other upgrades worth mentioning are a new and improved kickstand, a hard-wired ethernet port on the docking station, and an exclusive white Switch shell and matching Joy-Cons.
Best Buy has dropped several must-have Nintendo Switch video games from $59.99 to $39.99, a savings of 33%. Several of them are available in your choice of a physical copy or digital download. You won’t lose out even if you plan to upgrade to the Switch 2, since the new console has been confirmed to be backwards compatible with nearly all Switch games.
The “Switch 2” Isn’t Out Until June or Later
If you’re holding out on the next generation Switch 2 console, be prepared to wait for a while longer. It’s possible that the console update might not be released until after June of 2025. We suspect the price of the Switch will be at least $400, so you’d be paying hundreds more than a Switch OLED console right now. Basically, if you don’t own a Switch, now is still a good time to join the family. The games are still as amazing as when they were first released, and they’re on sale more often than ever before. Nintendo Alarmo is now available to purchase for $100 at Best Buy. The Nintendo-themed interactive alarm clock first released in October at the Nintendo Store, but you needed a Switch Online membership to buy it. At that time, Nintendo said Alarmo would launch at major retailers in March 2025. The quirky accessory has arrived a bit earlier than expected.
Alarmo is currently only available at Best Buy (and the Nintendo Store). That said, we’d expect the gamified alarm clock to pop up at other major retailers soon, including Walmart, Target, and GameStop. It’s possible Amazon will sell it, too. While the online retail giant doesn’t carry Nintendo Switch products at this time, it still stocks a wide variety of official Nintendo merch.
The Mario-red alarm clock has a dynamic front display and built-in speaker. Before you go to sleep, you can choose which Nintendo characters and games will wake you up the next morning.
Alarmo launched with sights and sounds from five Nintendo Switch hits, including Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. So far, Nintendo has added two more games to the lineup via free post-launch updates: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
In total, there are over 40 scenes that can be watched on the screen when the corresponding tracks from the game pull you out of your slumber. You can opt for the volume to increase over time. As a heavy sleeper, I use this setting.

Alarmo has several cool interactive features, too. The built-in motion sensor lets you snooze your alarm with a gesture or a button press (it’s your choice). Nintendo characters from the games above can also respond to motion-detected gestures.
Throughout the day, Alarmo can be used to remind you what time it is by setting it to play music at specific intervals. It can also track your sleep and let you know how often you’re tossing and turning, which provides a general idea of the quality of your sleep.
Alarmo is powered with the included USB-C cable. While it doesn’t work wirelessly, the included coin battery saves your settings, so if you need to move the clock to another room or your power goes out, you can plug it back in without needing to set it up again.
Nintendo plans to release more updates, including new scenes, for Alarmo in the future. Updates are free, but you need to connect the device to Wi-Fi to download them.
Fortnite Festival fans who play on Nintendo Switch (or PC) can save on the recently released CRKD Neo S Purple Wave Controller for the first time. Normally $60, the recently released wireless controller is discounted to $50 for a limited time. The officially licensed gamepad adds a 5-fret attachment to the compact Neo S, making it the ideal way to play Fortnite’s Guitar Hero-esque game mode with a standard controller.
Released at the end of 2024 and designed by the team behind Guitar Hero and DJ Hero controllers, the Neo S Fortnite Festival Edition is reminiscent of the 4-fret attachment that slotted into the Game Boy Advance slot on the DS. Playing Guitar Hero with cartridge slot attachment was actually pretty fun, so the Fortnite Festival Edition Neo S for Switch and PC sounds cool. Plus, the “Purple Wave” color scheme is arguably best-looking officially licensed Fortnite controller around.

The controller comes with a velcro wrist strap to keep it from flying across the room when in the middle of a guitar solo and a microfiber string bag for travel. The controller is also compatible with Fortnite Festival on streaming platforms like Luna and Xbox Cloud Gaming, plus a wide range of other rhythm games.
Outside of the detachable five-button module, the Fortnite Festival Edition has the same features as the conventional Neo S controllers. It’s a pro-style controller with a compact form factor. It has Hall Effect analog sticks as well as swappable thumbstick tops. Additional stick tops are sold separately in bundles of eight. Amazon has $20 stick top bundles in gray,black, and an orange and black combo pack.
The Neo S also also has Hall Effect triggers with customizable sensitivity via the CRKD mobile app. The easy-to-use app is where you go to map inputs, including the pair of remappable back buttons. The Neo S has adjustable rumble and motion controls, though motion controls will only work on Nintendo Switch. Within the app, you can turn on optional preloaded configurations, including a turbo mode.
CRKD’s Neo S first released last April. Like the manufacturer’s Nitro Deck handheld controller (more on that below), the Neo S aims to be a useful controller and a collectible. Each CRKD controller can be registered on the app by tapping your smartphone against the the company’s logo on the back of the controller. Considering CRKD’s approach to controller releases, it’s not surprising the Neo S already has some fairly unique and stylish designs, including a Famicom-inspired Retro Gold controller, “Junkyard” theme, and a number of transparent shells, including the clear model shown above.
The standard Neo S controllers without the fret attachment normally cost $50 each, but Amazon is offering $10 discounts on all styles right now.
Switch owners who want better ergonomics in handheld mode should also check out CKRD’s Nitro Deck, one of GameSpot’s favorite handheld controllers for the Nintendo Switch. Currently discounted to $40 (was $50) or $60 (was $80) when bundled with a hardshell travel case, the Nitro Deck is a U-shaped cradle that offers a premium feel, full-size inputs, four remappable back buttons, and the customization options via the official CRKD app mentioned above for the Neo S. The limited-edition bundles have pretty awesome color schemes, such as the GameCube-inspired model above, and the range of transparent colors like Atomic Red and Emerald Green. It also has a built-in kickstand for tabletop mode and passthrough USB-C for charging.
If you buy the Nitro Deck separately, you can get CRKD’s hardshell carrying case with a shoulder strap for $30 at Amazon. Alternatively, there’s a shoulder bag for travel with room for a bunch of additional accessories for $38 (was $50).
It’s worth noting there’s a Nitro Deck+, too. This newer model swaps the locations of the face buttons and analog stick on the right side, adds a pair of side buttons, and supports both USB-C passthrough for charging as well as HDMI passthrough for video output. You don’t need to remove the Switch from the Nitro Deck+ to play on your TV.
