Poncle, the team behind Vampire Survivors, has announced Whiteout, a free update available now for PC, Xbox, and Mobile. It’ll be coming soon to Nintendo Switch. Not only does Whiteout bring the spirit of Christmas to the game, but it also has a variety of new content, some of which include a new bonus stage, achievements, and more.
To unlock Whiteout, players must collect 20 Orologions. Once they’ve unlocked it, they’ll be able to find the Antidote relic and the Glass Fandango weapon, and if they pick up and max out Wings, it’ll evolve the Glass Fandango. The goal of Whiteout will be to survive for 20 minutes, and if players make it to the post-game, they can find the Chaos Altermanna in the Tiny Bridge.
Whiteout also features She-Moon Eeta, a new playable character that has a “CriticalHP skill” that triggers when her health drops below 25%, and a new music track. In addition to all the new content, there’s also a new series of cheats players can use to help give them the upper hand. Below are all the cheats, alongside information on what they do:

In a Steam Blog post, the dev team teased what players can expect with future updates. According to the post, Adventures is the next big thing in store for the game, and will “add a bit of new flavor through new stage progression and descriptions.” This will let players start new chapters without fear of losing anything they earned in the main game, and it’ll have several new features. The team is also working on a new cross-save feature that will be available for beta channels.

Mario will have a new voice actor in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and the internet thinks it has finally deduced who it (possibly) is–Mick Wingert.
That brings us to today. Via Video Games Chronicle, a datamined list of voice actors allegedly from a hacked kiosk demo of Super Mario Bros. Wonder intended for US retail stores has made its way online. Though anyone can post anything on the internet and claim it to be true, the original poster did attach screenshots for previously unseen levels from World 1 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, lending the list of datamined voice actors an air of authenticity.
The only problem is that the list of voice actors obtained from the datamine doesn’t state which actors are voicing which characters, leading users like Famiboards’ user MondoMega to do some sleuthing to find out who is playing whom. By cross-referencing each actor’s previous voice work and eliminating voice actors who are most likely reprising previous roles, the internet thinks it has narrowed down the list and might now know who the new Mario is.
While still unconfirmed, it seems the internet’s best guess is that Wingert is the new voice of Nintendo’s plucky plumber, based on his previous work and the fact he has previously voiced characters in other Nintendo games like Fire Emblem Heroes. One other possibility is Kevin Afghani, though fans think he’s more likely voicing Super Mario Bros. Wonder’s talking flower instead of the title role.
Other revelations to come out of the datamine include the suggestion that longtime Daisy voice actor Deanna Mustard has been recast. Other voice actors, like Samantha Kelly, appear to be returning to play previous roles, with Kelly likely returning to her role as Peach, Toad, and Toadette. That being said, it’s best to take all of the speculation and datamining deducing with a grain of salt for now.
Fans won’t have to wait long to officially find out who Mario’s new voice is. Super Mario Bros. Wonder releases on October 20 for Nintendo Switch.
A new firmware update for the Nintendo Switch is out now, but don’t expect much in the way of major changes. Version 17.0.0 is focused mainly on system stability. It has also been discovered that the update adds more blocked words to the database, including slang for testicles.
The one-line patch notes posted on Nintendo’s website state that the update includes “general system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.” As usual, though, that’s not the whole story.
Twitter user OatmealDome, who is known for finding more changes under the hood, dug into the code and apparently discovered some additional changes, including new error code messages and updated time zone data. Additionally, this person reports that the update adds more words to the banned word list, including “thot.” What’s more, slang words for testicles in Japanese have reportedly been blocked with the update.
There you have it: The Switch should now be more stable and less filled with Japanese testicle slang.

As ususal, PC gamers can look forward to all of the same third-party releases in October as their console-owning buddies. You get the MGS collection, AC Mirage, and Alan Wake 2. You also get Forza Motorsport, since Microsoft is cool enough to release all of its first-party games on PC at release. Not a bad month to own a gaming rig.

Between Super Mario Bros. Wonder and the Super Mario RPG remake, Mario fans have a lot to look forward to playing on Nintendo Switch this Fall. If you’re planning on getting both upcoming Super Mario games at launch, you should look into the preorder discounts at Geek Alliance. Thanks to the online retailer’s preorder deal, you can order physical copies of Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Super Mario RPG for just $49 each (both are normally $60).
That’s just $98 for both instead of $120–which is even a few bucks cheaper than Nintendo’s $100 eShop digital voucher deal–but there is a catch. Geek Alliance preorders won’t ship until the game’s release date, but US shipping is fast and free, and the games should arrive within a few days of launch. So if you don’t mind waiting a few days to play or are planning to buy these as holiday gifts to give later this year, this is a great way to save some cash on physical copies of Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Super Mario RPG.
